I’m struggled with depression most of my life and have been on different medications and nothing helped. I was on Google desperately looking for another options to help cope with my depression when I came across Oasis Mental Health Centers. Everyone there is very friendly, understanding and encouraging! I also got to meet Joie who was my treater and I couldn’t have been more lucky! Joie is an amazing person who makes you feel comfortable and want to go to each treatment! I’m very happy and I will miss going there every day!

At first I was skeptical because I had gone 40 something years with nothing working but this really works. I feel significantly better about myself and future. Now mind you, this is not a magic cure. I still have my triggers and that is probably never going to change. What has changed is my reaction to them. I don’t fly off the handle anymore or allow anxiety to consume me.

That said, a key part of my success is my treatment specialist Joi (pronounced jo-ee) Joi… wow! What can I say? She was a joy to work with! She made me want to come into treatment every day just to shoot the breeze with such a cool chick. Love the necklace that reads “Brat”. We clicked immediately and shared many of the same opinions, Joi is never at a loss

FAQ

Common questions about Spravato® treatment in Northfield

Don’t see your question? Book a free consultation and we’ll walk you through it.

Does Oasis Northfield offer TMS therapy?

Yes. Oasis Mental Health Centers in Northfield offers TMS therapy for eligible patients with depression.

Does Oasis Northfield offer Spravato® treatment?

Yes. Oasis Northfield offers Spravato® treatment for eligible adults with treatment-resistant depression.

What are the Spravato® side effects?

The common side effects from Spravato® are dizziness, nausea, increased blood pressure, drowsiness, dissociation, and increased blood pressure.  These side effects often peak during or shortly after treatment and subside within a few hours. At Oasis Mental Health Centers, we ensure patient safety by administering Spravato® at REM’s certified locations, and under medical supervision in a comfortable setting.

How does Spravato® work?

Unlike traditional antidepressants that increase serotonin over weeks, Spravato® works on the NMDA receptor, targeting glutamate—a neurotransmitter responsible for mood regulation. This leads to rapid symptom relief, sometimes within hours. It helps form new neural connections, rewiring the brain to improve resilience.  Patients take Spravato® in-office twice a week for the first month, then less frequently based on progress.

Does Spravato® cause weight gain?

Spravato® does not typically cause weight gain. Unlike some antidepressants that affect metabolism and appetite, Spravato®’s primary action is on glutamate pathways, which are not directly linked to weight changes. Some patients report minor appetite changes, but no significant weight gain has been documented in clinical trials. Unlike traditional antidepressants, it does not affect serotonin-related hunger signals.

Spravato® vs ketamine

Spravato® offers a safer, regulated approach to ketamine therapy. At Oasis Mental Health Centers, we provide only FDA approved and insurance covered Esketamine (Spravato®) treatment depression relief. Spravato® is the only version of Ketamine FDA approved, and covered by insurance for depression treatment.

Is Spravato® covered by insurance?

Yes! Every New Jersey based health insurer has a policy to cover Spravato®. Coverage depends on:

  • Your diagnosis – Must meet medical necessity criteria (varies by insurance, typically consists of at least 2 anti-depressant medication trials)
  • Your Copay or Coinsurance and deductible– Out-of-pocket costs vary depending on your insurance plan
  • Your insurer – Some plans require prior authorization.

At Oasis Mental Health Centers, we help verify your insurance benefits and guide you through the approval process. Book a free consultation today to check your coverage!

What insurance does Oasis accept?

All New Jersey-based and most major insurance providers, including Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare, cover both Spravato® and TMS for treatment-resistant depression when certain criteria are met. Coverage varies by plan and medical necessity requirements.

Do I need a referral?
